Kenwick Park, Lincolnshire Wolds

Summer at Kenwick Park: One of Lincolnshire’s Best-Kept Secrets

Just outside Louth, tucked into 320 acres of Lincolnshire Wolds countryside, sits Kenwick Park, one of the quiet reasons Lincolnshire punches above its weight as a summer destination.

If you’ve never been, or you’ve driven past the entrance a hundred times without stopping in, this one’s for you.

A proper Lincolnshire retreat

Kenwick Park sits right on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for good reason. Rolling hills, hidden valleys, quiet lanes, and the kind of woodland trails that make you forget how close you are to actual civilisation.

For guests staying on the estate, it’s the sort of place where the plan is often just to slow down. Morning walks through the woods. Afternoons by the pool. Long evenings on the veranda watching the sun go down over the golf course. That’s it. That’s the holiday.

For anyone from further afield who’s never quite thought of Lincolnshire as a proper break destination, Kenwick is the reason we’d politely ask you to think again.

What’s on-site

On-site facilities at Kenwick Park
Everything you need is right there on the estate.

One of the reasons Kenwick works so well is that guests don’t have to leave the estate to have a full holiday. Everything you’d want is right there:

  • The golf course: 18 holes of highly regarded course set into the natural landscape, open to non-members as well as guests staying on-site
  • The spa: heated indoor pool, jacuzzi, outdoor hydrotherapy pool, gym, and treatment rooms
  • The restaurants: The Fairways Restaurant for full meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea), Junipers Eatery for lighter bites, and Keepers Bar for a drink overlooking the parkland
  • Activities: archery, biking, tennis, and plenty of walking trails straight from the estate

You could genuinely spend a full week here and not run out of things to do without ever getting in the car.

Staying on the estate

There’s a range of accommodation across the estate to suit different sized groups. If you’re planning a family break or a getaway with friends, one option worth knowing about is The Fairways, our own luxury Norwegian log cabin at Kenwick.

The Fairways is a four-bedroom lodge sleeping up to eight guests, with a spacious open-plan lounge, three shower rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and a decked veranda with a sunken hot tub overlooking the 10th fairway. It’s a proper year-round retreat, but summer is when it comes into its own: long evenings on the veranda, hot tub under the stars, and the estate on your doorstep.

If you’d like to know more or check availability, our cabin details are at kenwicklogcabin.co.uk.

Beyond the estate

Louth and the Lincolnshire coast
Louth, the Wolds and the Lincolnshire coast are all on the doorstep.

Part of what makes Kenwick a great base is what’s around it.

Louth itself is five minutes down the road, a proper Georgian market town with independent shops, one of the best food markets in the county, and enough good pubs and restaurants to keep you occupied every evening of a week’s stay. Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday are market days, and worth planning around.

The Lincolnshire coast is 20 to 30 minutes east. Mablethorpe, Sutton on Sea, and Anderby Creek all have proper sandy beaches, and if you’ve got kids, they’re likely to declare it the best day of the holiday.

Lincoln is an hour’s drive south: cathedral, castle, cobbled streets, and enough history to fill a rainy day. Cadwell Park motor racing circuit is just up the road for anyone into cars or bikes.

And if you’re just after a good walk, the Lincolnshire Wolds start at the estate boundary. Countless routes, all quiet, all beautiful.

Getting around

Kenwick sits just off the A16, easily reached from Grimsby, Lincoln, and the coast. If you’re driving in, there’s plenty of parking around the estate.

If you’re flying into Humberside Airport, coming in by train (Grimsby is the nearest station), or heading out for a night in Louth where a designated driver isn’t part of the plan, that’s where we come in.

We’re Goys Taxis Louth, the local taxi service most Kenwick guests end up using during their stay. Airport transfers, station pickups, trips to and from the golf club after a few drinks, dinner in Louth, a day out at the coast. We cover it all, seven days a week.

One of the best-kept summer secrets in Lincolnshire

Kenwick Park isn’t the loudest holiday destination on the map, and honestly, that’s part of what makes it what it is. Peace, proper countryside, and a full estate to enjoy without having to leave. If you’re planning a break this summer and fancy something a bit more grown-up than a caravan park, this is one to look at.

For general accommodation on the estate, contact Landal Kenwick Woods directly. For our cabin The Fairways, details are at kenwicklogcabin.co.uk. And when you’re planning the practical bits of the trip, we’re here to help with the getting around.

Safe travels, and enjoy your stay.
